Week 10/08/23-10/14/23
This past week has been absolutely insane. This is our first week of debrief. That means we have a couple days to talk about our ministry, allow ourselves time to rest in the lord, and to prepare for the next thing God has us doing. At the beginning of the week I realized I needed to go to the store to grab some supplies for me and my team. Thankfully one of the ladies teams was about to head out for laundry and theing to stop by Walmart while they were out. I then hoped in the van with them, rode to the laundromat, and then headed to Walmart. When we got there I started off be grabbing some toothpaste, soap, and toothbrushes. After that I wanted to grab a small Bible to have on me in a fanny pack I had recently bought at REI. When I went back to find the bible’s all I could find were the larger study bible. So I asked an employee that was by the books if there were any other bible’s that were smaller. Turns out the guy I asked was a book vender and he pointed me straight to where there would be a smaller bible. As I walked towards the other section of bible’s he said, “I’m glad you’re looking at bible’s.” After looking for a minute or two all I could find was a small KJV bible. So I grabbed it just in case I wasn’t able to look anywhere else. I then hear the lord tell me to tell this man about Jesus. So I did, and as we start talking he tells me that God has saved his life 8 times from death. We then start talking even more and missions comes up and he starts telling me about the missionary’s his church has sent out. I then explained to him that me and a large group of young adults are about to be heading out for a 9 month mission trip. After I tell him this he goes to shake my hand. In the middle of shaking his hand he puts his other hand on top of my hand and begins to pray over me and my squad. After he prayed I went back over to double check that there weren’t any other bible versions but before I could leave there he saw me and said that he wanted to stay connected with our group so that when we get back we can come to his church and talk about everything God did. So I gave him a couple ways to stay connected with our group. But before we parted ways, he pulls out some money to try and give me. Initially I told him that I really don’t need the money but he continued and said that God told him to give it me. I accepted the money and went over pay for all of the stuff I had gathered for my team. The amount of money he gave me was almost the exact amount I needed to pay for my mine and my squads supplies. I even had a little extra. This reminds me of when Jesus fed the thousands of people with a couple fish and loafs of bread. They even had excess at the end of that miracle. Recently God has been showing me how much he wants us to rely and trust on him for everything. This is only one example of this. I already have many other stories that highlight the importance of trusting God with everything.
Thank y’all for reading this weeks story, I hope y’all enjoyed. As I’m writing this we are on a flight headed out for our first country. I’m so exited to see what God is going to do. Also I just wanted to give y’all a heads up that some post’s may be delayed for the next month because internet access is not guaranteed for where my team has been located.
I can hear the excitement in your voice. That would be great if you and/or teams could speak at his church (we know he has lots of tools to open and close doors).
